It remains to be seen whether the developer is capable of building on those small victories a second time around, and whether it’s able to produce a compelling VR gameplay experience - something that’s proven tricky for even the most accomplished teams. While not all that cohesive, its story took Gordon Freeman’s character in an interesting direction with several accomplished cutscenes. That said, it did do one or two things rather well. Inconsistent production value, uninspired level designs, and a host of technical issues aren’t features one would expect to mire a game with Gordon Freeman branded on its front cover. The fact that Hunt the Freeman wasn’t very good didn’t help its case, either. Most prominently, as it was believed to have used stolen assets from other Half-Life mods, an accusation the developer refuted when later interviewed by PC Gamer. The first game, which was developed under a license using the Source Engine and was sold for $25, upset many during its initial launch for a number of reasons. Hunt Down The Freeman 2? What do you make of this Half-Life: Alyx P.T.Hunt Down the Freeman, a controversial fan-made Half-Life spin-off that released back in 2018, is getting a VR sequel. I mean, I won’t play it, no siree, but I’ll be happy for the people that do! Perhaps one day Konami will give us the full Silent Hill VR game we deserve. The game lives on in fan-remake form people have ‘ported’ it to Dreams and even made their own full remakes, some with experimental VR support. We’ve also recently seen a mod that adds lightsabers to the game and a map from Portal 2 ported into it. Even as it stands though, it’s another impressive addition to Alyx’s growing mod scene. But AmbientDruth plans to add more to the experience over time, including the flashlight and the even some endings, so expect it to get a whole lot scarier. and is missing some of the games creepiest moments. Plus the experience isn’t 1:1 with the original P.T.

It’s still early days for Alyx mods, so it uses many of the assets from the original game (including Alyx’s hands and windows with convenient handles on them). This mod from AmbientDruth brings the game to Valve’s Source 2 engine, with a surprising degree of authenticity.
